In memory of Luke Conklin.
But who was Luke Conklin, and why did his name appear on one of America’s most iconic game shows?

Luke Conklin was a well-known casting director for reality TV who had an impact on over 20 years of television. From Guys Grocery Games and Food Network’s Baking Championships to The Bachelor, Flavor of Love, One Versus 100, and Minute to Win It, he influenced some of the most popular television programs. Every aspect of the reality and game show industries was impacted by his work.

Behind the scenes, however, Luke was respected for his commitment, mentoring, and influence on innumerable careers in addition to his professional standards.

The entire casting community is in sorrow. Another casting director, Aaron Thomas, wrote: “Luke was incisive, motivated, and uncompromising in his criteria. He brought out the best in people and had high expectations for them.According to Ali Kause, a fellow coworker, “He was loved, respected, and devoted to his family, to this craft, and to all of us.”

He was described by Stephanie Lewis as an amazing friend, mentor, and father—”someone I could call at the drop of a hat, and he’d answer.”

Wheel of Fortune’ Honors Luke Conklin,

After a valiant 13-month fight against glioblastoma, a severe type of brain cancer, Luke died on May 12, 2025, at the age of just 48. “We knew his passing was a possible outcome, but out of respect for his privacy, we kept his condition private,” his brother wrote when he made the announcement public.
Luke lived fully. He was an avid trail runner, a mountain biking coach, a passionate Chiefs fan—and most of all, a devoted husband and father. His family—wife Hillary, son Jack, and daughter Finley—were at the heart of everything he did.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family. Luke’s daughter Finley battles a rare brain disease herself, leaving Hillary to carry the emotional and financial weight of both medical care and the loss of her partner. So far, the fundraiser has gathered over $58,000 of its $75,000 goal.

If you’ve ever smiled at a reality show moment—if your favorite contestant won you over—chances are Luke’s work helped make that happen. He gave many their first break and left behind a legacy far beyond the screen.

Thank you, Luke Conklin, for your talent, your humanity, and your impact.
You will never be forgotten.
