On the night of May 25th, a peaceful evening at Lake Latonka turned into heartbreak. At 11:09 p.m., emergency crews in Cool Springs Township, Pennsylvania received a call: female unconscious, not breathing—golf cart accident on Latonka Drive.

Another information was received a few moments later: the woman had been thrown off the cart and was now aware. They put Stat MedEvac on standby. They dispatched Chief 87 to the site. Help arrived minutes later at 11:32 p.m., but Megan Mappen’s injuries were too serious.
Megan, a bright soul from Mars, Pennsylvania, was only in her 20s. She completed her education at Mars Area Senior High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh.

In a devastating message, her uncle Scott Mappen asked, “If anyone has a spare miracle they can lend… Megan is fighting to survive. Because life may really change in a moment, he urged everyone to give their loved ones a hug.

Megan unfortunately lost her life in the collision. Her community as a whole, together with her friends and family, is in grief for a life lost too young.
Rest in peace, Megan Mappen. You were loved, you were cherished, and your memory will live on.
